TAAG Angola Airlines has completed the first commercial flight with the Airbus A220-300. The inaugural flight was from Luanda to São Tomé Island. It departed Luanda International Airport carrying a mix of regular passengers and high-ranking executives. Upon arrival, the passengers were greeted by Angola’s Ambassador to São Tomé and Príncipe, His Excellency Fidelino Peliganga.

The flight had around 200 passengers offering them a mix of comfort and eco-friendly travel on the advanced Airbus A220-300. In addition to this route, the A220-300 also completed its first domestic journey on the same day connecting Luanda with Benguela, a prominent Angolan tourist destination, transporting a total of 240 passengers.

The TAAG Airbus A22-300 has 137 seats configured in 12 business seats and 125 economy sats. These are meant to offer a balanced experience to different travelers. The airline will deploy this aircraft to be used on both domestic and regional (intra-African) routes.

This flight also marked the debut of Airbus aircraft in TAAG’s proprietary fleet, a historic step aligning with the airline’s multi-brand strategy. The A220-300 prominently displays TAAG’s new branding, featuring Angola’s iconic “Palanka” symbol on its tail and wings. This symbolic design pays homage to Angola’s heritage and identity, aligning with the airline’s renewed commitment to showcasing national pride through its fleet.

TAAG Angola Airlines stands as Angola’s leading airline and a key player in the global aviation market, currently operating a network that spans 12 domestic and 11 international destinations.
