Precision Air Expands Fleet to Support Tanzania’s Tourism Surge
Precision Air has announced the addition of two new aircraft to its fleet. This addition will help resolve recent capacity challenges and meet rising passenger demand.
The airline has acquired an ATR 72-500 through a wet lease. It has also reintroduced an upgraded ATR 42-600. The return of the ATR 42-600 will help overcome post-COVID capacity constraints that had led to reduced flight frequencies and disrupted schedules.
“These additional aircraft demonstrate our commitment to meeting market demand while maintaining high service standards,” said Patrick Mwanri, Group Managing Director and CEO of Precision Air.
“The ATR 42-600, being the latest model from ATR, offers enhanced passenger comfort with improved seating and significantly reduced engine noise.”
The ATR 42-600 will significantly improve operations in key domestic and regional routes, including the Comoros market, connecting Grand Comoros’ Hahaya Airport with Anjouan, while the ATR 72-500 is expected to immediately boost capacity during the peak travel season.
Mr. Mwanri explained that recent passenger disruptions, including delays and cancellations, were largely caused by global supply chain issues and engine part shortages. “We assure our customers that we are working tirelessly with partners to resolve these issues and minimise inconvenience,” he added.
Precision Air currently operates key routes such as:
- Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar
- Seronera to Zanzibar
- Arusha to Seronera and Zanzibar
- Nairobi to Zanzibar
- Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar and Nairobi
The newly added aircraft are scheduled to enter service on August 1, 2025.
