South African Airways Launches Direct Flights Between Cape Town and Mauritius Starting December 2025

South African Airways (SAA) has announced the launch of its first direct service between Cape Town and Mauritius. This service is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

“Connecting Cape Town with Mauritius is a fascinating achievement that our team has been aspiring towards for quite some time,” said Professor John Lamola, CEO of SAA. “This new route demonstrates our role in promoting leisure travel across the region and supporting the broader tourism objectives for both South Africa and Mauritius.”

The new service will initially operate three times per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights will depart Cape Town at 09:25 AM, arriving in Mauritius at 4:30 PM (approx. 5-hour duration). Return flights leave Mauritius at 5:20 PM and arrive in Cape Town at 9:30 PM.

To accommodate seasonal travel patterns, SAA will temporarily reduce frequency to two flights per week between mid-January and mid-March 2026, before resuming the tri-weekly schedule.

“This convenient flight schedule was carefully developed in collaboration with our South African tour operator partners,” added Tebogo Tsimane, SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer. “It aligns with traveler preferences and peak holiday planning, giving our customers greater flexibility.”

The new Cape Town–Mauritius connection is expected to significantly benefit both leisure and business travelers, while bolstering tourism and trade between the two destinations.
