TAAG Angola Airlines Launches Direct Luanda–Nairobi Flights
TAAG Angola Airlines has launched direct flights from Luanda to Nairobi.
The new service, officially received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by key stakeholders including the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), will operate three times a week between Luanda and Nairobi.
Speaking during the arrival ceremony, Allan Njoroge, Acting CEO of KTB, highlighted the growing importance of intra-African travel to Kenya’s tourism strategy.
“Africa accounted for about 41% of Kenya’s total tourist arrivals in 2024, with nearly one million visitors. This flight is a huge milestone for us as we continue to target regional markets to grow arrivals,” he said.
Kenya has seen a surge in visitors from Angola in recent years, with arrivals increasing by over 300% in the last four years. The new direct flights are expected to further accelerate this growth, opening opportunities for both tourism and business.
Kenya’s Ambassador to Angola, Ambassador Joyce M’Maitsi, urged travelers and businesses in both countries to leverage the new route.
“The flights will operate thrice a week. Let us take advantage of this opportunity to build trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between Kenya and Angola,” she said.
